Nursery Environment
Open for over 15 years, this nursery is
located in a detached house with a large garden in a quiet
residential area. The rooms have been adapted especially for
use as a nursery. The atmosphere is reassuring and loved by
the children.
Since September 2008 we have adopted a highly successful philosophy , which is reflective of the requirements of the EYFS principles and which is fully recognised and praised by Ofsted called “The Learning Journey”. The Early Years Foundation Stage or the EYFS to which it is known is a stage of child’s development from Birth to the end of their first reception year at school. The EYFS framework describes how Early Years Practitioners should work with children and their families to support their development and learning. It describes how your child should be kept safe and cared for and how all concerned can make sure that your child achieves the most that they can in their earliest years of life.
At the heart of this approach we create an environment where a child can express themselves and experience a balanced curriculum of educational activities and experiences. The ability to do this through interaction, involvement and fun ensures that a child can access learning in a non-pressurised manner and therefore develop his/her abilities in all areas.
The EYFS Framework is based on four important principles:
A Unique Child – Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self assured.
Positive Relationships – Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationship with parent and/or a Key Worker.
Enabling Environments – The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
Learning and Development – Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected.
